The process of reproduction is not a one hormone show with oxytocin as the star. There are 7 other hormones that you must come to understand the roles of, in order to fully comprehend the process.

Lesson 1: Progesterone

In this lesson, you will learn about estrogen, the “superhero” of sex hormones
Lesson 3: Prostaglandins
In this lesson, you will learn about prostaglandins and their role in menstruation, support of the circulatory system in pregnancy, and the process of cervical ripening before labor begins.
Lesson 4: Relaxin
In this lesson, you will learn about relaxin and its role in conception, pregnancy, cervical ripening, and in promoting the rupture of the membranes.
Lesson 5: Oxytocin
In this lesson, you will learn about oxytocin, the love hormone, and its role in relationships, orgasm, conception, birth, and breastfeeding.
Lesson 6: Catecholamines
In this lesson, you will learn about catecholamines and their role in the fight or flight response, how they can inhibit oxytocin production, and how they work with oxytocin to activate the fetal ejection reflex.
Lesson 7: Beta Endorphins
In this lesson, you will learn about beta endorphins and their role in natural pain management in the body, the way in which they create a bonding effect during labor, and how sustained high levels can inhibit the production of oxytocin.
Lesson 8: Prolactin
In this lesson, you will learn about prolactin and its role in puberty, breast development, nurturing behaviors towards the newborn, and its influence on the initiation and maintenance of breastmilk production, and secretion.
