This difficult but relevant 4 lesson learning module explores pregnancy and infant loss through the real-life scenarios of parents who were faced with the devastation of the loss of their children. While emotionally triggering, this learning module will equip you with the necessary language, comforting approaches, and self-care necessities to supporting clients through the life-changing journey of loss.

This 4 part lesson explores:
Lesson 1: An Overview of Loss and Grief
In this lesson, you will step into the intensity of pregnancy and infant loss. You will become familiar with the vocabulary and language that surrounds loss.
Lesson 2: Supporting Known Loss
In this lesson, a father will share the story of how he and his wife prepared for their probable loss. Following his story, we will explore birth plans and hospital protocol/procedures surrounding loss.
Lesson 3: Supporting Loss Without Bias
In this lesson, a mother will share the story of her difficult to make decision to terminate her pregnancy. This lesson will enable you to explore any personal bias that may prevent you from offering compassionate support to a client in this situation.
Lesson 4: Supporting Loss Without Warning
In this lesson, a brave woman will share the story of how the loss of her baby surprised and devasted her. You will gain insight into the important intricacies of a birth that simply cannot be planned.
